(According to www.offshore-energy.biz) A consortium of South Korea’s SK Innovation, PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power), a subsidiary of Vietnam’s state-run PetroVietnam group, and Nghe An Sugar Limited Liability Company (NASU) has been approved as the project developer of the Quynh Lap LNG Power Project, regarded as one of the largest LNG power projects in Vietnam.
Valued at approximately $2.3 billion, the project will be developed in Nghe An Province (north-central Vietnam). It includes the construction of a 1.5 GW gas-fired power plant, a 250,000 m³ LNG terminal, and a dedicated port in the Quynh Lap region, approximately 220 kilometers south of Hanoi.

An SK Innovation spokesperson said that the project demonstrates the strength of international collaboration and the competitiveness of SK’s integrated LNG value chain, while expressing expectations to contribute to energy security and regional prosperity.
The company is also considering expanding the LNG terminal into a regional hub for nearby power plants to enhance operational efficiency and ensure stable energy supply, in line with Vietnam’s national energy development orientation.
Construction of the project is scheduled to begin in 2027 and be completed by 2030.
