PROJECT OVERVIEW – ETHANE STORAGE TANK PROJECT AT THE LONG SON PETROCHEMICAL COMPLEX IN SOUTHERN VIETNAM (LSPET):
The LSPET Project, for which the Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), acting as a member of the TCPT Consortium, has signed a turnkey EPC contract, involves the construction of two specially designed ethane storage tanks at the Long Son Petrochemical Complex. The contract covers feasibility study, engineering, procurement, and construction of two full-containment cryogenic ethane storage tanks, each with a capacity of approximately 55,000 tons, maintaining temperatures as low as -90 degrees Celsius. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The LSPET project represents a strategic move to utilize imported ethane from the United States as feedstock. It is expected to significantly reduce feedstock costs, enhance operational flexibility, and contribute to greenhouse gas emission reduction, reaffirming LSP’s long-term commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection in Vietnam.
